Are smokers stupid weak willed individuals? Do they not have any understanding of the health risks associated with smoking, the cost associated with smoking or how they are viewed by other people? As an ex smoker I know categorically that smokers are neither ill informed nor wimpy pathetic people with no strength of character.
In fact I would state that in the UK currently the only people left smoking are very strong willed people. It takes a degree of self possession, confidence and determination to continue to smoke in the face of universal condemnation. Smokers have to endure a great deal of discomfort, ridicule and blatant discrimination just to be able to continue smoking.
It is a common sight to see people outside in horrendous weather, gale force winds and torrential rain clutching a cigarette to their mouths. They may be outside their place of work, bar or restaurant or even a hospital. Yes even a hospital. I will guarantee that outside every hospital throughout the UK there will be consultants, nurses and patients smoking. There will be people smoking outside a hospital who know in really terms about smoking related illness not as some academic concept.
I wonder just how many times these smokers have been told to stop. I wonder just how many reasons these smokers have been given to stop? How many of these smokers have been bribed or threatened about their habit? And yet they haven't stopped.
Hypnotherapy for stopping smoking is a form of suggestion therapy which in very simplistic terms means telling someone to stop smoking. The process is sophisticated and elegant but ultimately ineffective if used on its own when dealing with today's smokers.
People who smoke in the UK are intelligent, determined people who could potentially know more about the dangers of smoking than the average therapist. So in this respect if you are considering stopping smoking in Liverpool chose a hypnotherapist in Liverpool who understands the psychology of the smoker and understands why smokers smoke.
As an ex smoker I have spent thousands of pounds on cigarettes and although I appear in perfect health I could have still contracted one of the many smoking related illness. I just don't know. Was it worth it? What pleasure did they give me? If I had to write a 300 word blog on the positive aspects of smoking and cigarettes would I be able to do this? Perhaps I will give it a try and let you know my results.
